‘I loved this show so much … that I didn’t necessarily want to put it down,’ she tells MTV News of taking the tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Taylor Swift will launch the next leg of her highly successful Speak Now Tour next month, and she’s excited by all the possibilities the trek will bring this time around. “We’re going to Australia and New Zealand, because we are never done touring,” she joked to MTV News during “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” when she premiered her new video for the “Hunger Games” track “Safe & Sound.”

“I’m really excited about going back to Australia and New Zealand because, well, New Zealand, it’s the first time I’ve ever been there, and the Australian fans have been so good to me,” she continued. “And this will be my third time going back there. I loved this show so much, the Speak Now Tour, that I didn’t necessarily want to put it down. I hope they like it. I love going there. It’s always really wonderful. The people are so nice.” The last time she hit the road, she was joined by a laundry list of A-listers, including T.I., Flo Rida, Usher and Paramore leading lady Hayley Williams, to name a few. And she still can’t believe all those people agreed to perform with her. “It’s been crazy. Between all the guest artists that have come out and come onstage and surprised the audience, that was, I think, my favorite part of touring this year, because the audience never knew what they were going to get,” she said. “And I loved that experience, and even walking around L.A., people come up to me, these girls will come up to me [like] ‘I was at the Staples show where Justin Bieber came out’ [or] ‘I was at the one where Ellen and Nicki Minaj came out,’ and it’s just really fun, because you start to realize that concert meant something to them, and that’s nice.” Not only did all those famous faces perform with Swift, but she also had one of the top-grossing tours of the year. “That’s the fans doing that,” she said. “I’m kind of blown away by that.” Did you check out the Speak Now Tour? ‘Love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about,’ singer tells MTV News after premiering ‘Safe & Sound’ video.

In 2010, Taylor Swift released the Grammy-winning Speak Now. The album was a study in the complexities of love and life, full of ponderings on the romance of new love and the pain of a broken affair. Drawing inspiration from her own life, the album topped the charts and kept Swift ever-present.

As she embarks on her next album release, she tells MTV News that she’s still got work to do, even if her bosses at the record label are ready to pull the trigger on it. “So far, I’ve been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, ‘All right, we’re finished; all right, we’re satisfied; OK, this is done now.’ And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions,” she told MTV News’ Sway during “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” when she dropped her video for her “The Hunger Games” track, “Safe & Sound.” “I’m going to work on it until I literally have zero time left to work on it, because I’m having so much fun working on this album,” she explained. “I made my last album, Speak Now, with this idea I really wanted to make an album without writing with anyone else just because I always wanted to do that. And now I have a different approach to this record. I’m getting to work with people that I’ve always wanted to work with.” That means that she’s seeking out some assistance “from all different places in music.” “I’m trying to be as much of a sponge as possible,” she explained. “You have to evolve and try new things and change and that’s what I’ve loved to do with this album.” But just because she’s trying some new things musically doesn’t mean she’s quite ready to move on from writing about love. “I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It’s all different and I’m fascinated by that,” she said. “I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made Fearless. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion.” What are you hoping to hear on Taylor Swift’s next album? Leave your comment below!

Just-premiered clip includes plenty of imagery from the best-selling book series to tide fans over until film’s release.
By John Mitchell, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Photo: Big Machine

Talking exclusively to MTV News following the premiere of her new video for “Safe & Sound” from “The Hunger Games,” Taylor Swift revealed that the clip contains several references to the best-selling YA book series that fans should recognize.

“I felt like I was really needing to pay tribute to this movie and tell this story,” Swift said. “There’s this moment in the music video where I find this mockingjay pin and hold it up.” For those who have not read the books, the mockingjay pin is one of the most iconic symbols from the series. It was given to the main character, Katniss Everdeen (played in the film by Jennifer Lawrence), as a token to take into the arena to remind her of her Home, District 12. The mockingjay and the pin itself are both symbols of rebellion in the books. The mockingjay is a species of bird inadvertently bred when the Capitol released “jabberjays” throughout the nation of Panem in an attempt to spy on its citizens. After the mission failed and the citizens of Panem learned how to feed lies to Capitol spies through the jabberjays, the Capitol ended the project, but the birds bred with mockingbirds in the wild, creating the mockingjay, which the Capitol was never able to eradicate. We won’t spoil the rest, but the third book in the series is titled “Mockingjay,” and that isn’t just a reference to the bird or the pin anymore.

“Having a music video with that much symbolism in it is something I’m not used to,” Swift continued. “Everyone who is a ‘Hunger Games’ fans knows what it means when there’s fire in the trees and they know what it means for the house to be burnt and they know what it means for the ‘Hunger Games’ pin to be covered in rust and old. Everybody can take their own meaning away from it, but it all goes back to the symbolism of the book.” To avoid spoiling the books and film, the only bit here that we’ll address are the burning trees, which can be seen throughout Swift’s video and briefly in the film’s second trailer. In the arena, the Gamesmakers use fire to keep the tributes from hiding in trees and to push groups of them into the same area so they can fight to the death for all to see. Swift’s “Safe & Sound” video has us psyched for the release of “The Hunger Games,” due March 23. “I’m now sort of like an infomercial for it,” Swift, a fan of the books, joked to MTV News about the series. But in a real-life Hunger Games, Swift tells MTV News she’d be ‘the person who runs and hides.’

MTV News kicked off the week in a big way Monday with the exclusive premiere of the video for Taylor Swift’s “Hunger Games” soundtrack song “Safe & Sound,” which was followed by a lengthy chat with the country superstar about everything from her love for Suzanne Collins’ best-selling book to her adorable cat Meredith. Swift also took Twitter questions from fans, one of which came from @SafeandSound4Taylor, who asked the Grammy winner what she would do if she were in the real-life Hunger Games.

“I’ve thought about this, because reading the books, you’re so sucked into it that as you go about your life, you sit there, and you’re like, ‘Could I climb that tree?’ ‘Could I make a weapon out of this?’ ‘If I had to forage for food, what would I do?’ Honestly, I think I would just be the person who runs and hides,” she admitted. “I kind of freeze. You know how you have fight, flight or freeze, those three reactions to something scary? I just freeze.” Swift said she would try to run and hide somewhere, and if she had to kill anyone, she hoped it would be in an indirect way, similar to a few of the deaths Katniss inflicts almost accidentally in the books. When asked how writing a song for the movie came about, Swift said she received a call directly from the studio and subsequently devoured the books. “I immediately read the book in, like, two days and fell in love with it,” she said. “I fell in love with the characters, fell in love with the world that Suzanne Collins had created. I was just so immersed in it.” She also revealed that when she was first asked to pen a song for the soundtrack, she thought she’d be writing something encouraging and upbeat. “When I got the call, I thought from what I’d heard about the movie, ‘It’s an action movie, right? We’re probably going to be writing a song that’s like, “We’re going to win!” ‘ And then I read the book, and I thought, ‘No, we’re going to have to write sort of a death lullaby, it’s so different from what I thought.’ ”

Swift seemed just as excited about seeing the finished film as we are and expressed curiosity in seeing scenes from the actual Games, which we haven’t yet been shown via sneak peeks or trailers. “They have never shown footage of the Games,” Swift said. “I’m dying to see that. Everyone wants to see pivotal parts. The relationship with Rue and Katniss and also Peeta and Katniss and their relationship developing, and none of the Games have been shown yet, so I’m so excited for the movie. I’m a fangirl!” Stick with MTV News as we roll out more from our exclusive interview with Taylor Swift about her “Hunger Games” soundtrack song! ‘He created this ethereal sound without making it this big battle anthem,’ Swift says of ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack producer T-Bone Burnett.

On Monday night (February 13), Taylor Swift released a cold, moody video for her Civil Wars-assisted “Hunger Games” soundtrack tune “Safe & Sound.” During her exclusive chat with MTV News following the premiere, she revealed how the eerie song came together in just one day.

“I wrote this song with the Civil Wars and [soundtrack producer] T-Bone Burnett, and we all happened to be in the same city on the same day, and I was working with T-Bone a lot on the soundtrack, just putting songs together,” she recalled to Sway during “MTV First: Taylor Swift.” When Burnett suggested the Civil Wars stop by, Swift was enthusiastic about the potential collaboration. “I had this title that I had been working with called ‘Safe & Sound,’ and I just knew that I wanted it to deal with the empathy, sort of the more sensitive side, the bittersweet side of this story,” she said about the sullen track. “Never imagining that this would ever be picked or a single, ’cause it’s a lullaby. This song was such an amazing experience, because it’s like it just happened.”

The experience was particularly thrilling for Swift since she’s a big fan of the Grammy-winning Civil Wars. “I’ve been a Civil Wars fan for about a year, and I think they’re amazing, and I’ve always wanted to work with them. They have another song on the soundtrack ['Kingdom Come']. I have another song on the soundtrack ['Eyes Wide Open'], and it just ended up so organically coming together, I can’t believe it, really.” By the time Swift heard the finished product, she couldn’t believe the beauty of Burnett’s sparse production. “We wrote this song and recorded it one day. When we got the track back, I was so surprised by the restraint,” she said. “He created this ethereal sound without making it this big battle anthem.” What did you think of Taylor’s “Safe & Sound” video? Clip for ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack song also takes cues from book series’ life-and-death themes.

Taylor Swift managed to capture the mood of her “Hunger Games” soundtrack tune “Safe & Sound” in the video, which premiered Monday (February 13) during “MTV First: Taylor Swift.” Co-starring the Civil Wars, the video’s chilliness encapsulates the sadness of the song, the lead single from the “Games” soundtrack.

The moody, emotional clip features Swift, walking barefoot through the woods, her hair and makeup noticeably undone, wearing a long, white gown. As she makes her way through the cloudy, damp forest, there’s destruction around her, as parts of the wooded area burn behind her (clearly an homage to the upcoming movie). In between scenes of her meandering through the woods, singing the T-Bone Burnett-produced track, are shots of the Civil Wars, hanging out in a dark cabin, lit only by the fireplace, as they accompany Swift. As the song crescendos, Swift reaches the cabin, which has been abandoned, and finds the now-famous Mockingjay pin. As the video closes, a glimpse of the sun shines down on Swift as she continues her pilgrimage. The video’s simple concept punctuates the quiet beauty of the sullen track, about the pains of life and love — certainly themes relevant to “The Hunger Games.” In fact, the video location is as dreary as the song’s mood: It was shot at a cemetery. “It’s one of my favorite moments in the video; there’s this wide shot, where I’m just kind of crumpled up sitting on a gravestone, and it’s actually the gravesite of a couple who lived and died in 1853,” she recalled. “I’m sitting here thinking, ‘What were their lives like?’ It’s really eerie, considering what the movie is about and how it deals with life and death. It just absolutely blew my mind.”

During “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” Swift sat down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway and opened up about the video and what it means to have the lead single from the “Hunger Games” soundtrack, which drops March 20, days before the highly anticipated movie opens on March 23. The film adaptation stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. During the chat, Swift gushed about working with director Philip Andelman, despite the uncomfortable shooting conditions. “It was so cold. It was freezing. I was shaking the whole time and trying not to be shaking when the cameras were rolling. It was about 40 degrees in Nashville. It had just rained,” she said of the shoot, which also included a lot of barefoot walking in the mud. “I’m wearing this 1920s vintage nightgown that didn’t provide much warmth. I didn’t get sick. I thought I was going to get sick. That was the upside.” What did you think of Taylor’s “Safe & Sound” video? Let us know in the comments below! Taylor Swift will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway on Monday (February 13) for “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” during which she will premiere her video for “Safe & Sound,” followed by an exclusive 30-minute chat. Swift isn’t new at getting the “First” treatment. In May 2011, she sat down with Sway for “MTV First” to premiere her video for “The Story of Us.” During their interview, Swift got personal, even sharing what she loves to do most in her hometown of Nashville, among other things.

Before Monday’s latest installment of “MTV First” with Ms. Swift, MTV News is taking a look back at her finest revelations from the May 2011 episode. What does Taylor like to do in Nashville?
“Nashville … you want to go to Hillsboro Village ’cause it’s really cute — this little bohemian shopping district. It’s walking distance from my place. There’s this coffee place, Fido, that I love. There’s a restaurant called City House that’s really cool,” she said. “I love the grocery store. The grocery store’s one of my favorite places.” Where’s the weirdest place she’s ever written a song?
“The weirdest place I have ever written a song is probably in an airport, and I got an idea so fast that I just had to run to the bathroom at the airport, grab a paper towel and write lyrics on the paper towel,” she said. “I still have it. I still have it in a box in my room.” What place in time would Taylor most want to travel to if she could?
“I would want to see, probably, New York City around the turn of the century,” she said. ” ‘Cause, you know, it looks drastically different now than how it probably looked back then, and I just think that would be really exciting.” So, how much do Sway and Swift like each other?
“That was a wonderful, wonderful experience,” she said of meeting Sway for the first time in 2008 for the MTV special “Once Upon a Prom.” From there, the pair relived all their greatest interview moments — including chats on red carpets for shows like the VMAs and the Grammy Awards. The gentlemanly Sway later handed her flowers. And so it seems there’s no lack of love there. Come Monday night, expect Sway and Taylor to make more memories, and you never know what interesting insider tidbits Swift will share.

“Safe & Sound” is the lead single off the “Hunger Games” soundtrack and features the Civil Wars. Following Monday’s video premiere — which will also air live on MTV’s channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa — the Grammy-nominated singer will sit down with Sway for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. On Tuesday morning, VH1′s “Big Morning Buzz Live” will feature the video at 10 a.m. ET/PT. The “Hunger Games” soundtrack, which also features Arcade Fire and the Decemberists, drops March 20. The movie hits theaters on March 23. Taylor Swift‘s opening act for her 2012 Grammy Awards performance was her “Hunger Games” soundtrack collaborators the Civil Wars, who took the stage to perform their track “Barton Hollow.” The duo praised Swift for already winning two prizes for the night, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Mean.” “It’s our great honor to welcome a two-time winner already tonight, our friend Taylor Swift,” they said before the singer took the stage.

Playing a banjo, Swift wore a baggy light-pink dress and her hair done up in a loose braid for her performance of her Grammy-winning song. Her band, also wearing vintage-style clothing, backed her surrounded by abandoned-looking relics like big wooden doors and floorboards that evoked the country twang of the track. Check out photos from the Grammys red carpet 2012. Mid-song, Swift made her way across the stage, keeping the honky-tonk going, as she sassily looked into the camera and sang the Speak Now track. As she wrapped up the performance, she earned a standing ovation, and in true Swift style, she seemed stunned by all the love radiating her way. The video for Taylor and the Civil Wars’ “Hunger Games” song “Safe & Sound” will premiere on “MTV First: Taylor Swift” on Monday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by an exclusive chat with Swift. The Civil Wars are not only nominated for two awards at the 2012 Grammys on Sunday night (February 12), but on Monday, the music video for their Taylor Swift-assisted “Hunger Games” soundtrack song, “Safe & Sound,” will drop during “MTV First: Taylor Swift.” The video will premiere at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by an exclusive chat with Swift herself on MTV.com.

“I just appreciate that we had such horrible working conditions,” the Wars’ Joy Williams joked to MTV News on the 2012 Grammys red carpet. “We were in a heated cabin. She, being the prima donna that she is, was out barefoot, in freezing weather, in the mud and still managed to have a really good attitude about it.” Bandmate John Paul White added with a laugh: “We figured it was the least that she could do, since we wrote the song. ‘I’m the biggest star in the world,’ ” he joked about the humble pop songstress. The Barton Hollow singers admit they initially weren’t sure about working with another artist on the track, but that after it was suggested to them, it just felt right. “It was [perfect], strangely enough. John Paul and I write all of our own music, so it’s not as common anymore for us to be collaborating with other people,” Williams said. “But, [producer] T-Bone [Burnett] and Taylor Swift: It was just natural.” After Monday’s video premiere — which will also air live on MTV’s channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa — the Grammy-nominated Swift will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. A News Blog about Motorcycle Accident Attorneys Orange County. Personal injury is a legal term for an injury to the body, mind or emotions, as opposed to an injury to property. The term is most commonly used to refer to a type of tort lawsuit alleging that the plaintiff’s injury has been caused by the negligence of another, but also arises in defamation torts. The most common types of personal injury claims are road traffic accidents, accidents at work, tripping accidents, assault claims, accidents in the home, product defect accidents (product liability) and holiday accidents. The term personal injury also incorporates medical and dental accidents (which lead to numerous medical negligence claims every year) and conditions that are often classified as industrial disease cases, including asbestosis and peritoneal mesothelioma, chest diseases (e.g., emphysema, pneumoconiosis, silicosis, chronic bronchitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and chronic obstructive airways disease), vibration white finger, occupational deafness, occupational stress, contact dermititis, and repetitive strain injury cases. If the negligence of another party can be proved, the injured party may be entitled to monetary compensation from that party. In the United States, this system is complex and controversial, with critics calling for various forms of tort reform. From: Motorcycle Accident Attorneys Orange County. Attorneys and lawyers often represent clients on a “contingency basis,” in which the attorney’s fee is a percentage of the plaintiff’s eventual compensation, payable when the case is resolved. Oftentimes, having an attorney becomes essential because cases become extremely complex, such as in medical malpratice cases. From: Motorcycle Accident Attorneys Orange County.
